Recently, we took a shoe shopping trip to New York to hunt for the latest fashionable – but comfortable – women’s shoes. We visited with some well-known designers – Cordani, Fly London, Gentle Souls and more – and discovered some of the latest trends in comfort, trend-setting shoes. We discovered thick straps and wedges as a common theme among the designers we visited, along with brightly colored flats and sandals, and laced, closed-toe shoes.

Cordanis ShoesNot surprisingly, wedges are the go to shoe this season as we consider everything a woman wants in a shoe – height, style, comfort, and versatility. We discovered neutral colored wedges with thick straps were in almost every designer’s collection. During our first stop at Cordani, we viewed a beautiful collection of platform wedges with thick straps for added comfort and security in your step. At our next stop, we were pleased to find more of the same style – this time with a lesser height and a detailed, woven wedge and strap. Another notable designer’s collection – Fly London – showcased an earthier vibe with their wedges detailed with ties in the back in place of straps.

gaborWe were excited to discover the next trend in flats from a few of the designers we visited while in New York. Although many of the flats from the designers came in neutral colors for a more professional, classic look, there were some brightly colored and patterned ballet flats that were as comfortable as they were bold. Paul Mayer’s flats were brightly colored in every color in the rainbow – with hints of glimmer and shine from patterned leather and gold tips. We thought the Gabor collection was a little different – with neutral colored, metallic flats that stand out without the bright colors.

Shoe Shopping in NYAnother unique trend in the collections that we took note of was the laced, closed-toed shoes designed with a sporty yet sophisticated look. Pikolino’s collection of laced shoes gives off a casual sophisticated vibe with the neutral colors when you don’t want our shoes to be the obvious centerpiece of your outfit. For a dressed-down, sporty look – Fly London’s closed toed shoes give off a “sneaker” feel and look for days out with the family walking around town. If you love laced shoes but you want something that stands out a little more, the color-blocked laced shoes from the Pas de Rouge collection are must-haves.

After an eventful shoe shopping trip to New York, we returned to The Shoe Spa to spread the word of the latest trends in comfortable fashion coming out of the New York show. Shoe Spa customers will love the style, height and form-fitting comfort their favorite designers are coming out with.  We were impressed with the level of style and the undeniable luxury the designers had to offer in everything from wedges to sandals to flats during our trip and are excited to offer our customers the same high-fashion and relaxed styles.
