We’re always excited to highlight some of our favorite designers and the unique footwear they produce. This week is no exception, as Salpy continuously releases quality styles season after season.

Merging of Minds

Salpy Kalaidjian has been drawn to fashion design and retailing since she was a little girl. In her 20s, she was hired as a dress buyer by Bullock’s Department Stores in Southern California where she would begin to acquire a vast amount of knowledge about the composition of fashion products. As her understanding of the designer industry grew, so did her desire to begin her own line.

Her husband, Kevork Kalaidjian, is a descendant from a long line of shoemakers from Eastern Europe. He started out as a heel model sculptor, and quickly became an expert in the construction of the shoe. With his extensive knowledge of shoe and shoe component manufacturing, Kevork went on to run his own factory.

In 2001, the married couple merged their respective talents and launched their Salpy line of shoes. The brand focuses on developing new, diverse constructions that integrate comfort with fashion. Their designer footwear can be found in high-end shoe and clothing boutiques in the United States.

A Focus on Artisan Shoes

Each style from Salpy is treated as a unique work of handmade art. The collaboration between Salpy and Kevork on each product ensures that every style meshes master craftsmanship with fashion-savvy design.

The quality leathers, genuine skins and rare silks used for the uppers create distinctive products. Many of their materials even receive finishing touches in the Salpy factory, making them unique to the industry. Hand-cut edges and attention to individual detail make each pair produced a step above the competition.

Handcrafted in the USA

As the majority of designer shoe manufacturing moves overseas to cut costs, more and more customers are seeing a drop in quality and service. With a factory located in Southern California, master artisans handcraft each pair of Salpy shoes in the United States. By running a completely domestic operation, the brand specializes in individualized service with the design office working only a few steps away from the factory. Customers are encouraged to request special orders of shoes made with unique uppers not found in most stores. These shoes are made by hand and shipped within 3 to 4 weeks.

The combination of quality materials, comfortable design, master craftsmanship, and supreme customer service all result in shoes that never go out of style. We consider Salpy the jewels in the crown of comfort at The Shoe Spa. Find a variety of choices from Salpy, including: wedges, mules, sandals, and more!
